Company profile

Wonderstone Ltd is 100% owned by Assore Ltd and has been mining a uniquely pure Pyrophyllite deposit 300 kilometers west of Johannesburg since 1937. It enjoys a special position in the ceramic field in that the diamond synthesis industry has utilized the properties of excellent thermal and electrical insulation, thermal shock resistance and high compressive strength in the process of manufacturing synthetic diamonds for over 50 years

The Ceramox business was acquired in 2001 to complement the Wonderstone range of products. Ceramox operates as a division of Wonderstone Limited, and specialises in providing customised wear solutions and corrosion protection, where abrasion, impact, friction, heat and corrosion pose problems. Typical applications include Chutes, Hoppers, Classifier Cones, Cyclone Separators, Pipe Linings and Wear Panels. The industrial workhorse and most frequently specified wear material is the Alumina Tile manufactured locally at the Wonderstone plant in a variety of standard sizes and shapes that can be installed economically in the shop or in the field.

Wonderstone Limited is the Southern African representative of Saint-Gobain, world leader in advanced technical ceramics and wear resistant technology. It’s materials suite covers traditional and advanced oxide based ceramics as well as non-oxide based ceramics such as alpha silicon carbide and reaction bonded silicon carbide.

The right to manufacture under license the unique Reparex Aero-Tech bonding system was acquired in 2004.

Wonderstone Ltd. is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 certified (TUV Rheinland Certification Body) and is currently at level 6 in terms of the BBBEE Scorecard.
